Job Reflective Narrative
Another step towards graduation, I accomplished my job shadow. My job shadow got done on September 2, 2016 at 9:00am. I interviewed Gayla Nickkel a 8th grade teacher at Washington Elementary school. During the interview I sat down and watched the teacher teach and I took some notes on how to control your class and make them listen to you the whole day. I chose to interview this teacher because I wanted to see how it felt and how it looks like to be a teacher. During the time I was there I got a chance to ask students how they felt about their teacher and if they liked the way she taught them. I also watched the students do their work and how they act when the teacher isn't looking. So I took some notes so when I become a teacher I know how they would act. At one point the teacher and I talked about school and what was my purpose and if i really wanted to be a teacher. Then I watched her teach other classes because they change throughout the day. I learned that being a teacher isn’t easy at all. There’s a lot of work you need to do and you have to be very responsible. I also learned that you need to pay good attention to the students because they can stop doing their work and talk to others. Another thing I learned was that you need to study hard in school to get your BA and a teaching credential. I really liked the way Mrs. Nikkel taught her classes. She teaches really good and she helps students when they need her throughout a lecture or work time. There was nothing I disliked about her or her class. I am still interested in being a teacher because i love teaching. Also because I thinking it’s good showing other kids what I learned in school and help them out and get where I am. |
